Compararlo con un mosquito es como comparar un martillo con el virus COVID. Pero no es as\u00ed como se comparan los peligros y se decide a cu\u00e1les prestar m\u00e1s atenci\u00f3n.<\/p><p>Entonces, \u00bfc\u00f3mo tomas esa decisi\u00f3n?<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p><p>Una base de comparaci\u00f3n es considerar el da\u00f1o potencial que puede causar un peligro. Se toma COVID mucho m\u00e1s en serio que con un martillo, y por una buena raz\u00f3n: el virus es un peligro muy grave que ha causado enfermedades graves y la muerte. Tambi\u00e9n puede hacerlo un avi\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/p><p>Pero tambi\u00e9n puede hacerlo un peque\u00f1o mosquito molesto, al portar y transmitir enfermedades.<\/p><p>En cuanto a cu\u00e1l de esos dos peligros transmitidos por el aire causa realmente el mayor da\u00f1o, dentro de un a\u00f1o, en nuestro planeta m\u00e1s de un mill\u00f3n de personas mueren a causa de los peligros para la salud transmitidos por los mosquitos; hasta setecientos millones m\u00e1s sufren da\u00f1os graves.\u00a0<\/p><p>Sobre esa base, la respuesta a cu\u00e1l es el mayor peligro se vuelve asombrosamente obvia: es el mosquito. Podr\u00eda ser el mayor peligro del planeta.<\/p><p>Pero, \u00bfqu\u00e9 pasa si las enfermedades transmitidas por mosquitos son muy raras en el lugar donde vive?<\/p><p>Si viaja en aviones todo el tiempo, pero rara vez viaja a lugares donde prevalece la malaria, el avi\u00f3n comercial ser\u00eda el mayor peligro, para usted. En ese caso, la respuesta se basa en su exposici\u00f3n personal al peligro.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u2026\u2026\u2026<\/p><p>En cuanto al punto a que sirve este ejercicio, es realmente sencillo. Ya sea que nos demos cuenta o no, todos comparamos los peligros con regularidad, decidiendo a cu\u00e1les prestar m\u00e1s atenci\u00f3n y cu\u00e1les no preocuparnos. Lo hacemos comparando la gravedad potencial, los datos y la exposici\u00f3n personal.<\/p><p>Y cuanto m\u00e1s entendamos ese proceso, mejor reconoceremos lo que puede da\u00f1arnos.<\/p><p>Paul
